Solutions

Built around your business. Not the other way around.

Every business works differently. NOVOLIG gives you one connected foundation and lets you turn on the workflows that actually matter.

The premise

There is no retail edition. There is one system.

What changes between a jeweller and a cement depot is not the software. It is the base unit on a product, whether stock is counted in one place or four, which attributes exist, what a customer type is called, and how many of the modules are switched on.

Everything below is that. Each section names the three or four settings that trade actually changes — and shows the two pieces of the product it lives in.

01Retail

Move faster at the counter.

A counter business does not need most of what business software insists on. Products and inventory carry the day: what is on the shelf, what is running out, and what it sells for. Everything else stays switched off until the day it is useful.

Units
Mostly pieces, with the odd pack or dozen where a supplier ships that way.
Reorder points
Set per product and per location, so a fast line raises its hand before it is empty.
Price levels
Retail as the default, with a second level for the customers who ask for one.

Know what is promised before it leaves.

Wholesale lives or dies on what has been promised. Confirming a sales order reserves the stock without moving it, so the available figure already accounts for every order in the book — and part-sending a line writes the movement while the balance stays reserved.

03Distribution

Purchasing, receiving and stock, in step.

A distributor is a purchasing business as much as a selling one. Purchase orders record the plan; receiving against them is the event that puts stock on the shelf, in whatever unit it arrived in, with the receipt landing against the order it was bought on.

  • Supplier prices

Held per supplier with their own currency, so comparison is a lookup rather than a memory test.

  • Locations

A main store and a godown, with transfers writing both halves into the ledger.

  • Part receiving

Twelve of twenty arrive; the order stays open for the rest.

Track valuable products with precision.

The usual workaround is a catalogue full of products called "Ring — 22K — 6.4g — Size 14". NOVOLIG lets you declare purity, weight, size and finish as real attributes and vary the product by whichever of them matter, so each variant carries its own stock, barcode and price while all of them stay one product.

Attributes
Purity, gross and net weight, size, finish — defined by you, since no fixed list fits this trade.
Units
Grams as the base unit, with fractional quantities allowed because weight is not a whole-item unit.
Locations
Showroom and safe held as separate places, with movement between them on the record.

05Grocery

High volume, without the spreadsheet.

Grocery is where per-product unit conversion earns its keep. Rice is bought by the quintal and sold by the kilogram; oil is bought by the case and sold by the litre. Declare the factor once on the product and every screen accepts whichever unit the person is holding.

  • Units

Weight and volume units alongside packaging, with fractions allowed where they are real.

  • Reorder points

Tight, per location, because a gap on a grocery shelf is a lost sale the same day.

  • Ledger reasons

Damaged and lost as first-class movement types, so wastage is measured rather than absorbed.

06Electronics

Every model, every capacity, counted.

One product, many versions of it: capacity, colour and model year are attributes rather than separate catalogue entries. Barcodes sit in their own field, apart from your SKU, so a manufacturer changing its packaging does not change your identity for the product.

Sell complex parts without losing the detail.

A parts business runs on identification and availability. Attributes carry the fitment detail your counter staff actually search on, and stock is held per location, so "we have it, but not here" is a fact the system knows rather than a phone call.

Attributes
Model, year, side, thread — whatever your counter asks for first.
Locations
Counter and store room as separate places, with transfers recorded on both sides.
Suppliers
Preferred supplier per product, so reordering is not a memory exercise.

08Hardware

Buy in boxes. Sell by the metre.

Hardware is the trade that breaks single-unit software. Cable is bought on rolls and sold by the metre, fasteners come in boxes and leave in handfuls, cement arrives on a lorry and leaves in bags. The factor lives on the product, so every document does the arithmetic and the ledger stays in one unit underneath.

09Manufacturing

What you have, what you need, what is moving.

NOVOLIG does not run production — there are no bills of material and no work orders. What it does is hold both sides of a maker's stock honestly: material received against purchase orders, finished goods counted and sold, and adjustments recording what was consumed, each with a reason on the row.

  • Locations

Raw material and finished goods as separate places, with transfers between them.

  • Adjustments

Consumption written as an adjustment out with a reason, so the ledger explains the drop.

  • Purchasing

Material bought on orders and received in the unit it arrives in.

10Fashion

Sizes and colours that each carry their own stock.

Putting the size and the colour in the product name is what makes a fashion catalogue unmanageable by the second season. Declare them as attributes instead and every combination becomes a variant with its own stock, barcode and price — while all of them stay one product you can price and report on together.

Variants
Size and colour as variant axes, generating the grid rather than typing it out.
Barcodes
Per variant, in their own field, so a supplier changing packaging changes nothing of yours.
Locations
Shop floor and stockroom counted apart, with transfers between them.

11Construction

Quote the job. Hold the materials.

Construction supply runs on three units for the same product and a quotation that has to survive a fortnight of negotiation. Per-product conversion handles the first; validity windows and historical snapshots handle the second, so an old quote still reads exactly as it was sent.

12Services

The commercial side, without the weight.

Not everything on a quotation is a thing on a shelf. Hours and days exist as units, so labour lines sit beside the parts they accompany, priced and taxed the same way, on one document that totals correctly. The parts move stock; the hours do not.

  • Units

Hour and day alongside the physical units, on the products that need them.

  • Quotations

Line discounts and mixed tax bands, so labour and goods can be taxed differently on one page.

  • Customer history

Every quote and order kept against the account, so the last job is one click away.

Not on the list

Twelve is where we started, not where it stops.

These are the shapes we have configured and tested against. If your business keeps a catalogue and counts what it holds, the same settings are open to you — the vocabulary is yours to write.
